Most vacations seem to have a theme or purpose, such as historical landmark hopping, visiting national parks or basking on the beach.
I always wanted to take a vacation where the destination was all about food. Like chowing down on every one of the 101 best burgers in America. Or consuming the delights of America’s best ice cream shops. Or devouring the best sandwiches in every state.
An extreme foodie vacation
Some people call it a Foodie Vacation, but the technical term is “Food Tourism.” It’s a real thing, according to the World Food Travel Association. “The pursuit and enjoyment of unique and memorable food and drink experiences, both far and near. “ Minneapolis/St. Paul is a fantastic area to take a Foodie Vacation. Did you know there have been 20 restaurants —yes, 20!—profiled on the Food Network’s TV show Diner’s, Drive-ins and Dives? That’s quite a respectable number, as compared to other states.
If that doesn’t get you salivating, then consider this: The Man vs. Food TV show profiled seven more restaurants that weren’t even on the Diner’s, Drive-ins and Dives list.
Planning your trip
I heartily recommend that you pack elastic waist pants—two different sizes. One that fits you now and one in the next size up.
